Making Sherbet
Aim:
I want to find out how to make Sherbet, and what I need.
Research:
It shows me one method of making sherbet and the chemistry in sherbet.
Method:
Equipment:
- Cup or any bowl
- Baking powder
- Citric acid
- Sugar ( Raro)
- stirring rod (Popsicle stick)
- Teaspoon
Instruction:
- Get your equipment
- add a teaspoon of sugar into cup
- add half a teaspoon of baking powder into cup
- add half a teaspoon of citric acid into cup
- Mix together with stirring rod
- taste the sherbet mixure
- Adjust the flavor if needed to
Results:
It foamed up inside my mouth because the sherbet reacted to the moisture in my mouth and foamed up. I add alot of citric acid so it was super sour. After I added some more citric acid the sherbet didn't foam that much so I added another half teaspoon of baking powder and I started to foam alot more than before, Because I evened out the citric acid and baking soda.
The Chemical word equation is:
Citric acid + Sodium bicarbonate --} Carbon dioxide
C6H8O7 + NaHCO3 --} CO2
