Red Cabbage Indicator
Aim:
I want to find out how to tell if something is an acid.
Method:
Equipment:
- Becker
- Red Cabbage
- Hot water
- Test Tube
- acid + Hydroxide
- Dropper
Instructions:
- Get your equipment
- Rip up the cabbage into tiny bits
- Fill the beaker with 1 ml hot water
- Add the cabbage to the water in the beaker
- Fill a beaker with 2cm of Acid using the dropper
- Fill a different backer with 2cm of Hydroxide using the dropper
- Add a squirt of cabbage into both of the beakers using the dropper
- And mix mixtures that should be yellow and pink in a different test tube
- You should have a green-colored liquid in the tube
- After you get the green-colored liquid start to mix the different colors to create more colors
Results:
It was really easy to do this experiment and it was also super fun to make the colors.
Making the blue was super hard but the other colors were easy to make. My partner Bronte was trying to layer the colors to make a super cool pattern.
